..........I rock 'em, roll 'em all night long..........Dominoes …..Sixty Minute Man (one of the first R&B songs promoted by Alan Freed, 1951)
Peace is joy at rest. Joy is peace on its feet.
It is cold (34°F) Friday morning. The sun is not quite up yet but the enlightening in the east clarifies silhouettes of roof peaks and smokeless chimneys. There are a few stars shining bravely as the dark softens. The bare trees look like skeletons against the light. There is no breeze and every shadow is still. Cooper and Sy (?Psi, Si) are in the backyard – two dark dogs in the dark of early morning. They are so excited that I am afraid to open the gate and have them spill out onto the shadowy grass unseen; so Puck and I stand outside the fence in the glow of the Christmas lights that wind their way around the backyard fence, the storage shed, and the deck railing. My hands glow yellow. Puck rubs noses with the pair through the slats and then sits, facing the street, barking mostly, although there are no squirrels or birds this early. There is still the grinding of motor off to the west, even at the early hour. My hands begin to get cold and Puck just sits so we return to indoor warmth and the smell of fresh coffee. This morning, I cream my coffee with artificial milk - to throw in sharp relief my artificial sugar – because I am out of half/half. Puck who usually gets a little cream, goes off to sulk and will not be appeased with treats. But mostly I return to we return you.
Hope your weekends soothes and refreshes, ePistliers.
Why can't we all just get oolong? / Tepidophobia – the fear of a badly made cup of tea.

It is a cold (23°F) Friday morning. The sky is covered with thick, lumpy clouds but there are cracks where the sky above can be seen when the rising sun illuminates. The weather accents the browning of grass and bushes and ornamental grasses blowing in a light breeze that drives the cold past gloves and scarves and coat sleeves. No birds are yet at the feeders so a lone squirrel is the focus of Puck's attention and angry barking. The hum of distant machinery is enhanced by local residents driving off to work or play – somewhere warm, I hope. I huddle by the storage shed door to block the west wind and watch the squirrel deftly skip the fences and disappear. The barking stops, the shout of a child on the way to school rings through the air and Puck and I return to warmth and yellow light and the smell of brewing coffee and floral incense. Puck accepts a treat and settles onto his pillow while I shed layers and layers and layers before I can sit down the drink the coffee and tell the tale to you.

The major problem is simply one of grammar, and the main work to consult in this matter is Dr. Dan Streetmentioner's Time Traveler's Handbook of 1001 Tense Formations. It will tell you, for instance, how to describe something that was about to happen to you in the past before you avoided it by time-jumping forward two days in order to avoid it. The event will be described differently according to whether you are talking about it from the standpoint of your own natural time, from a time in the further future, or a time in the further past and is further complicated by the possibility of conducting conversations while you are actually traveling from one time to another with the intention of becoming your own mother or father. Most readers get as far as the Future Semiconditionally Modified Subinverted Plagal Past Subjunctive Intentional before giving up; and in fact in later additions of the book all pages beyond this point have been left blank to save on printing costs. --Douglas Adams Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy

It is a chilly (29°) Friday morning. The sky is without feature – no clouds, no left-over stars, no jet trails. The grass, largely still green, is covered with rime that makes it looks pale and alien. A light breeze passes now and then to remind the fingers and noses that winter is coming. keep up; sometimes he can. The sky is more white than blue as it backdrops a silent flight of gulls – in groups and not, organized and not – flying southeast into the rising golden sun. Cooper is in the yard and he and Puck run under the decks and around the fence occasionally yapping. Puck sometimes runs very fast to see if Coop can keep up. On the corner a group of children clamber onto the bus with much noise and movement. The dogs are too busy running to notice and complain. The grind of distant motors seems suddenly louder the slowly fades to white noise. Birdsong is everywhere mostly at a distance but cheerful in the bright morning. Pepper and Penny join Puck and Cooper outside and a general uproar of barking and tail wagging and movement ensues. Whew! It takes awhile for thais to calm down – end result all the dogs including mine went in the patio door and left me alone in this beautiful morning; yet all I can think about is how cold my fingers are and how delicious a cup of warm creamy coffee would taste.
Hope your weekend has the happiest ending ever, ePistliers.
