I truly believe the only way we can create global peace is through not only educating our minds, but our hearts and our souls. --Malala Yousafzal
It is a chilly Friday morning. 38°F is insisted upon by a light breeze, possibly from the west. It has set me to wondering where I left my gloves last spring. A thick cloud cover varies in color but is universal in muting the sky so that the world is lighting up very slowly; it picks up highlights and creates shadows revealing the still green grass and the red, red maples, and the yellow oaks. The ash tree's squirrel nest adds interest among the now are limbs. Distant motors grind and no birdsong softens them; the fountain is hibernating for the winter. Puck is silent has he stalks the perimeter and patrols under the deck; but he growls a little at whatever it is that lives under the storage shed; I think it is the opossum, but I'm not sure. I take a few deep breaths but there is no smell in the air; cold weather has swallowed all the aromas. We return to our rooms. Puck is as anxious as I to find warmth (he has a wardrobe of coats and will be reminded of that soon). Our rooms smell of coffee and living. Puck drinks a ramekin of half and half and I drank a cup of decaf carefully modified with artificial sugar and more half and half. Delicious. But that's not the best part, the best part is writing to you.
Hope you weekend oozes with luck, ePistliers.

^ Ralph Samuelson of Lake City, Minnesota is credited with inventing the sport of water skiing. In 1922, Samuelson attached a set of makeshift skis to his feet (constructed of boards) and held on to a clothesline as a boat pulled hum. He discovered that shifting his body weight to the rear with his makeshift skis pointed up resulted in a stable, balanced formation, and thus began the sport of water skiing.

Night Sky, 10/27: First-quarter Moon (exactly first-quarter at 6:22 p.m. EDT). At nightfall, you'll find Altair shining about 30° (three fists at arm's length) to the Moon's upper right. ^^^ A boat should only tow a water skier if there are at least two people inside it – the captain and one other passenger. The captain must observe his or her surroundings, while the second passenger is responsible for observing the water skier. Operating a tow boat without a passenger watching over the water skier is a serious mistake that greatly increases the risk of an accident-related injury.
