Never
waste valuable time, or mental peace of mind, on the affairs of
others—that is too high a price to pay. --Robert Greene
It
is a crisp (24°F), clear Friday morning. The only clouds are
gathered to the east playing peek-a-boo with the rising sun.
Everything outdoors has a rime that makes the world look pale and
zombie like and it makes the grass crunch underfoot. There is the
sound of motors running and a murder of crows flying over. Puck
tries conversation with a neighbor rolling out his trash can but gets
no response. So we return home to the warmth and the aroma of this
morning's coffee and last night's incense. Puck ignores the daily
saucer of milk and goes directly to morning nap while I doctor my cup
with artificial sugar and real cream. I take my first long, slow sip
while looking out the back window. The willow is eerily motionless.
(Even the sleeping dog shows more movement – breathing, shifting,
sighing.) So as the sunlight finally reaches the treetops, I sit
down to write to you. What a great beginning to the new year.
Hope
your weekend is relevant and fun, ePistliers
